are literally thousands of websites geared towards women. The sites below
were chosen for this list based upon the diversity of information they
provide to women, specifically women in higher education. These sites
contain links to many other valuable web sites. The USMWF does
not endorse these organizations. This information is provided

HIGHER EDUCATION (back)
American
Association of University Women: AAUW promotes education and equity for women and girls. They address
public policy issues and diversity initiatives, fund research on women
and girls, and address sex discrimination in higher education.
National
Initiative for Women in Higher Education: NIWHE dedicates itself to fostering women’s issues in higher education.
provides resources, and includes information about professional
development opportunities for women in higher education. Also provides a
list serve for women administrators, faculty, staff, and students to
share information, solve problems, and make contact with others who want
to foster the National Agenda for Women in Higher Education.

National Women’s
Health Resource Center:
NWHRC, serves as the national clearinghouse for women’s health
information covering topics as diverse as yoga, puberty, depression,
Alzheimer’s, cancer, etc. It assists women in making health-related
decisions and encourages them to live a health lifestyle. NWHRC provides
comprehensive, objective information that is back by the nation’s leading
medical and health experts that make up their advisory council.

Commission for Women:
The Maryland Commission for Women promotes the social, political and
economic equality of Maryland women by providing valuable information
through publications on women and girl's issues and their rights, events,
organizations, legislation and community resources directory.

Working Moms Refuge:
Kim Foglia started this website in 1994 after suffering from one to many
bad days laden with sick kids, being behind on projects at work, baby
sitting and husband problems. This is a site that speaks to the real
lives of women because it is made up of a community of working women. In
is not an ideal image of what life is like but is produced by women
living harried lifestyles who share stories, pose questions, and make
suggestions in an online community. Includes dozens of list serves for
specialized groups and a lot of information. For married or single moms
with kids of any age.

New
Moon:
Nancy Gruver started New Moon when she could not find magazines for her
daughters to read that encouraged them to be themselves. New Moon
produces two magazines, one for girls, written by girls; the other for
parents who want to raise confident, independent thinking girls who
challenge stereotypes and celebrate diversity, Both are advertisement and
glitz free. They produce products and sponsor camps and events such as
“Turn Beauty Inside Out Day.”

National Women’s History Project:
National Women’s History Project, is the authoritative women’s history
site dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the diverse and significant
historical accomplishments of women. Provides biographies on influential
women, suggested women’s programs, events, resource listings, etc.

Nonprofit independent news service addressing women’s issues. Staffed by
women with nearly 50 years of newspaper, wire service and national

Feminist Majority Foundation:
FMF develops strategies and programs to support equality,
non-violence, economic development, and, , empowerment of women and girls
around the globe. Site lists events , ongoing projects, and information
that supports women in non-traditional occupations. Sponsors the
“Campaign to Help Afghan Women & Girls.” Home of the “Feminist Internet
Gateway,” providing hundreds of excellent links.

A national, multi-issue, public women's fund, that supports women and
girls in being independent and influential. Provides funding and
assistance to women's self-help organizing efforts, influences public
consciousness. Founders of “Take Your Daughter to Work Day.”
National Organization
for Women:
NOW is the largest feminist activities organization in the US. Organizes
protests, helps get women elected, champions women friendly laws,
advocates for survivors of rape, sexual harassment and sex
