Career Corner:
Networking for Women in Higher Education
By Caprice
Lantz, (former) Assistant Director, University
of Baltimore, Career Center
Networking is the
process of finding and developing mutually
rewarding relationships with people for
enjoyment, learning, helping others, and
advancing your career. As we discussed in the
newsletter last fall (http://www.usmwf.usmd.edu/Networks.html)
it is a key ingredient for career success. If
you are interested in furthering your career in
higher education, consider getting involved with
the following organizations. They offer
unlimited opportunities to build your network,
find mentors, develop new skills, and expand
career opportunities.
“Networking is a
key ingredient for career success.”
The Maryland
Network, a state chapter of the American Council
on Education's Office of Women in Higher
Education, dedicates itself to supporting the
professional development of women in higher
education who aspire to leadership positions.
It does this by advocating for women in higher
education and by encouraging the development of
their abilities through mentoring and networking
programs. |
